Every Set Teaches You Something

Lately I’ve been in one of those flows where every event feels completely different, but somehow all connected.

From Disneyland to Vegas to branded corporate events, it’s been a mix of worlds. And honestly, that’s my favorite part of what I do. I love getting see and be with so many different types of people.

What I’ve been realizing more and more is that no event stands alone. Every single one builds on the next. Even if the events are completely different from each other. It is so interesting to be immersed into so many different environments and types of people.

Each crowd I play for teaches me something. Each set helps me understand what people want to hear, what makes them want to move their body, sing along, and truly enjoy whats being played.

It is cool because these events build up and help me gain more of understanding of what “works” for so many different types of people.

And honestly, that is what shapes all of my sets and my overall style. I love bringing in unexpected tracks that I know work because I played at a completely different event. It can be a nice surprise and change up for the crowd,

I’m pulling from everything I’ve experienced leading up to that moment and using it to create something that fits that room. I truly believe that with DJing experience is everything.

No two sets will ever be the same.

This keeps DJing so it exciting for me. I’m always open, I am always learning, always refining, always finding new ways to bring a different feel into each event.

Every event adds another layer, and gives me more instinct, more range, more flow.

Which in the end helps me do my job that much better.
